Hi Paul C:
Yes, in general, but the practicalities of class alliances might require 
a 'perverse' policy, especially in social formations where a significant % 
of the population are part of the peasantry.
In the case of the US this is not at issue, for various reasons, including
the fact that the beneficiaries of state agricultural price supports
are often the large, agribusiness corporations.
