> Dear OPE-L:
> Thank you for inviting me to OPE-L, especially to Paul Zarembka,
> who took the initiative when he knows only my new book,
> From Capitalism to Equality
> An Inquiry into the Laws of Economic Change
> In this book I try to do three things:
> 1) Explain the persistent decline in the median conditions of
> life and work in the U.S. since 1973. I could only do this by
> using the labor theory of value.
> 2) Give a popular but rigorous introduction to the labor theory
> of value. Whether or not you are not ready to assign Capital for
> a course, for example, I believe you will find this book
> suitable. It relies on contributions to the theory made over the
> last twenty years by many people on this list, although it is an
> examination of (primarily U.S.) capitalism, not an account of
> debates.
> 3) Suggest principles of a socialist economy that flow from the
> explanation sought in point 1. These principles support a
> renewed socialist vision for highly developed economies.
> The publisher's Web site for this book is at
> http://www.LaborRepublic.org.
> You can find the table of contents and additional details there.
> I have no academic position, which must have disadvantages that I
> hope people will point out as they show up, but it does signal
> that my efforts in theory are for practical ends (but not
> pragmatic).
> Regards,
> Charles Andrews

Charles: welcome aboard!
