I was a (rather elderly) Marxist research student at Cambridge for two
years in the 1970s. Whilst I aspired to a degree of radicalism, I'm afraid
'chic' has also been beyond my grasp. I was studying under Bob Rowthorn,
then still a member of the British CP - again, quite radical, but
completely lacking in chic, I fear.
