Responding briefly to Duncan's and John's posts [1277 & 1279 respectively]:

AT A MINIMUM we *NEED* an alternate site for the archives that are more
easily accessible by LIST MEMBERS. An [easy?] possibility might be to
place the archives on a WWW site but construct it in such a way that only
OPE-L subscribers could access it.

The above could and should be done independently of whether we decide to
have public archives.

As for long papers, Philip Chao (the CSU Server Manager) suggested some
time ago that it might be possible for him to place longer papers
directly on the archives at CSU. If anyone wants to give it a try, please
send me a copy of a paper via e-mail (preferably unencoded) and I will
forward the paper to Philip.

On another matter, I would very much appreciate it if everyone toned down
the rhetoric and chilled. I realize that some debates in political
economy have gone on for many years and dialog can be frustrating at
times for all parties. The "OPE-L spirit", though, is to treat each other
with respect and deal with each other in good faith.

Now, who wants to get back to discussing credit money, international
values, ecology, and/or the "weaknesses and vulnerabilities of capitalism"?
