I won't dispute much of what Michael P. has written in #153. When I wrote
previously that Marx sometimes exaggerates for "dramatic and/or political
effect", I was thinking of some sections of:

a) The "Introduction" to the _Contribution to the Critique of Political
b) Some passages in the "Prefaces" to Volume 1 of _Capital_
c) polemical writings.
d) "The Communist Manifesto", etc.

In other words, (to use Mike L's words), Marx had a "theoretical project"
and a "revolutionary project." Since Marx wanted _Capital_ to be widely
read and have a political effect, I believe he exaggerated in some places
for a purpose. This only becomes a problem if one takes certain passages
out of context and attempt a too literal understanding of Marx's
