I regret to inform you that John Harrison, a founding member of
the Conference of Socialist Economists (CSE) and a former member
of the _Capital & Class_ Editorial Committee, died last week.

John should be well-known to most of you, at least through his
writings. He was the author of _Marxist Economics for Socialists:
A Critique of Reformism_ (london, Pluto, 1978) and was the co-
author with Andrew Glyn of _The British Economic Disaster_ (London,
Pluto, 1980) and with Glyn and Philip Armstrong _Capitalism Since
1945_ (Oxford, Blackwell, 1991; originally published by Fontana
under the title _Capitalism Since World War II).

The funeral will be on December 21 in Canterbury, UK. More
information at the following:
How should he be remembered? What were his contributions to Marxian
and socialist thought?

In solidarity, Jerry
